Hello there,
I am trying to file for retirement benefits through the FBU in US Embassy in Frankfurt, . In fact, I filed it but never got any confirmation. And they don't answer any phone calls or emails, nor do they accept any appointments for visits. Have you ever dealt with the FBU Frankfurt? What would suggest I do to get it through? Thanks in advance. Chan

Generally speaking, the various Embassy and Consulate offices are pretty swamped, thanks to budget and staff cuts over the years, combined with backlogs due to Covid. Your best bet is to use the FBU Navigator on the website and hope that at some point it leads you to an online form to request information. This seems to be the surest way to get some sort of response. Individual phone calls or e-mails no so much so.

Greetings Chan,

You're not alone. I'm beyond frustrated. It's nearly 3 years since I began trying to FBU Frankfurt. They only reply by phone which You're supposed to either answer your cellphone or be home. You miss the call, you're out of luck. Oh, FBU Frankfurt also asks not to send multiple emails.
FBU Frankfurt is the number 1 best example of a mismanaged, lame excuse government workers that care less about people in need.
Would of had better treatment and service in former DDR.
Good luck !

Hey All, I am in the same boat, sent letters, messages on navigator, still waiting after months for any reply or action from them. I finally found where to schedule an appointment, it is for July as well. I hope that works out better than the rest of my attempts to get anything done through that office.
Debbie

Debbie, we received an email stating that they would us next January!!. We already made an online appointment for July so we are going to go there and see if there is anything the will do for us. I will post an update if we anything happens.
Wishing you the best,
Maura

Maura, I was able to reach a representative at the FBU ph# 6975354242 and completed the progress I needed for my claim. The hours for the phone assistance are Mo, Tu, Th between 9 and 11 am. Perhaps that would be a good option to try.
Best of Luck,
Debbie

Same darn issue here. Booked the 15min appointment for the end of September (earliest possible as of today's post). I had reminded them as the FBU Navigator recommends after 60 days of no response. The Deutsche Rentenversicherung through whom I applied can't them either. The FBU office is SERIOUSLY understaffed, and operates with less staff than 15 years ago, by nearly a third more applicants & workload. Not their fault but a result of trying to "shrink the government".

Wow, I have been trying to get in with someone for my mother since September of 2020. Please keep us posted about you all’s in person appointments. Unfortunately, we had an appointment but they didn’t let us in because we didn‘t have the confirmation email that they never sent us. Good luck everyone and don‘t forget to get a confirmation number.

Hi all I have been waiting since March to hear from them regarding my social security benefits. I did book an appointment through Pick Time website and will travel the 5 hours to Frankfurt. Has anyone actually had any communication with the FBU and if so were you able to resolve your issues? This trip will be expensive and I don't want to waste my money if it will be for naught.
